¡Si del cielo bajaras, madre mía!

poema de ELVIRA COLQUI

¡Ah, si del cielo bajaras, madre mía!

Ah, si tan solo tu rostro otra vez mirara,

Aquí todo es monte de pena;

sin tus pisadas, mi llanura se quema.

¡Baja, ángel vivo!

Baja a visitar a tu huérfana paloma,

If you come down from heaven, my mother!

Ah, if you come down from heaven, my mother!

Ah, if only your face would look again

it would rain on my soul again joy.

The winds of August bring your memories

between heavenly skies and melancholic sonatas.

I see the face of your dreams on the horizon

Get off soon from above! Sister, good friend!

Everything here is a mountain of sadness;

Without your steps, my plain burns.

Come down, living angel!

Go down to visit your orphan dove,

that sinks in the swamp of melancholy.

Ah, holy mother!

Your plums kissing craving,

Your caressing pigeons that lull me

Your golden advice to enlighten me.

August without a mother

lifeless mother

They are little birds dead of cold and hunger,

It is wanting to ask the rock for a kiss from its bitter mouth.

You will come mother

sorry

I know.

You will come in drawn skies

like a winged angel

and you will dry my tears

that in an immense river they have become.
